In the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI), the ability to efficiently handle and process vast amounts of complex data is paramount. Vector databases and vector search have emerged as critical components in this domain, offering a specialized approach to managing multi-dimensional data points, or vectors, that are essential for advanced AI applications.
Join Michael Agarwal, Director and Global Practice Leader, Cloud Databases, NoSQL, and Site Reliability Engineering, Datavail, Srinivasa Krishna, Director and Global Practice Leader, MySQL and MariaDB, Datavail, and Jorge Anicama, Practice Leader, Analytics, Datavail, as they discuss a comprehensive exploration of vector databases, their role in AI solutions, and the emerging trends and technologies that are shaping their development.
They will delve into the unique characteristics of vector databases that set them apart from RDBMs, how some RDBMs have evolved with their own vector search capabilities, and AI use cases for vector databases.
In this session, you'll learn about:
- The fundamentals of vector databases, vector search, and their importance in AI applications
- The latest trends and technologies in vector databases
- How vector databases are used in AI solutions
- Vector search capabilities available in RDBMs such as MySQL, MariaDB, and PostgreSQL
- Vector search capabilities available in MongoDB
- Purpose-built vector databases such as Pinecone and Weaviate
- The challenges faced when adopting vector capabilities
